Woodwind & Brass

Mike Edwardes caters for all types of Woodwind and most types of brass instrument repairs, no matter how big or small the job and all work carried out comes with a six-month guarantee. Mike run the shop in Charlton and, as well as a City and Guilds qualified technician with distinction, Mike plays Soprano, Alto & Tenor Saxophones; therefore having the understanding of how an instrument should respond and perform along with the full knowledge of each instrument’s mechanisms and craft. Mike understands that schedules for performing musicians and school parents can pose a problem in finding convenient time to take an instrument to be repaired. A collection and delivery service is available for your convenience, at a small premium. Promising a prompt turnaround of all work carried out and prompt response to all enquiries.

Types of Instrument Services

General service
Includes the instrument being fully stripped down and cleaned, loose key mechanisms tightened up to 50% of pad, corks, felts and springs replaced as required. All pad seating and key regulation checked and set, key work oiled, instrument set-up and tested.

Repad service
Includes the above with the addition of the instruments being fully re-padded and set-up.

Overhaul service
Includes both of the above with the addition of all cork, felts and springs replaced and set-up.

Other repairs are quoted free of charge on inspection of the instrument.
